Quick Overview

ECP 534 Static Dissipative Powder Coating for used in the electronics industry where ESD (electro static discharge) is to be avoided.

Details

ECP 534 Static Dissipative Powder Coating

ECP 534 is a static dissipative powder coating based on a carboxylated polyester resin modified with epoxies.  Designed where the user requires anti static electrostatic dissipative properties in addition to a superior decorative finish eg, static safe work benches, racks, trolleys etc, it offers excellent flow, toughness and good chemical resistance.  A range of substrates may be coated.  Used in the electronics industry where ESD (electro static discharge) is to be avoided.

Powder properties

A thermosetting powder coating based on selected solid polyester resins cross linked with an epoxy curing system.

  • Specific gravity 1.90 g/cm3
  • Coverage from 10 - 14 m2/kg at 60 microns film thickness

Curing schedule

Normal cure

  • 6 minutes at 2000C (object temperature)
  • 10 minutes at 1800C (object temperature)
  • 20 minutes at 1600C (object temperature)

To achieve matt finishes the high temperature schedule is generally required.

Technical Properties

All tests have been carried out on degreased zinc-phosphated steel coated at 70μm and cured at 10 minutes at 1800C object temperature.

ECP 534 offers:-

  • Excellent static dissipation
  • Good resistance to corrosion
  • Good resistance against chemicals
  • Excellent adhesion
  • High surface hardness
  • Limited gloss stability against UV exposure

  • Tap water
  • Sulphuric acid, 20%
  • Phosphoric acid 30%
  • Sodium hydroxide 30%
  • Acetic acid 20%
  • High alcohols

Limited resistance against:-

  • Hydrochloric acid cone
  • Nitric acid 30%
  • Petrol
  • Aromatic solvents

Storage stability

When stored in cool (<250C) dry conditions - 12 months
